What’s your strategy for Increasing Your Income? It’s time to put your foot on the gas pedal and move forward in what you’ve been thinking about professionally and financially. Many of us get stuck with our “buts” as to why we don’t move forward in our careers and financial status. When I say, “but” I don’t mean da booty. I’m talking about making an “objection” as to why you can’t or won’t do it.
Of course this would NEVER be you, but have you ever heard another nurse say, “Yes, I would have done this, but……”
2 Excuses that will hold you back from your Income Increase:
1. The time wasn’t right…
(You should be used to this) When is the time ever right in life? How many time does something go awry right at shift change? (patient codes, falls out the bed, code brown, or a family member calls from Kalamazoo with 50 questions) All the time!!! I say this because there is NO perfect time, you need to start and take your first step forward.
2. I don’t have the money…
(Get started on what you have the ability to finance). The list can go on and on..but when will you put a halt to the excuses keeping you from moving forward. But “what if “it doesn’t work? But, what if it does? Give yourself the opportunity to reach upward and step into making more money, having more family time, while doing what you’re gifted at. Stop cheating yourself out of greatness and happiness.
When I started in the world of investing I was nervous and thought, “What if I lose all my money?” Yes, I had those thoughts BUT I quickly evicted them. I focused on me going PRN, having a flexible schedule, starting my own business and growing professionally and financially. There is NO perfect start date or time. Make the decision to move ahead and press “GO” instead of “BUT” and start to increase your income.
In my book, From Broke to Bank in Nursing: Strategies for Increasing Your Income, I provide 5 ways you can increase your income. Start there and don’t stop. Keep building, keep moving, and never stop growing. Divorce “but” and take your first step towards income increase.
